Let the Tears Fall

Well it is official people, I am all alone. Travis has finished his first year of medical school and left for Air Force Commissioned Officer Training (COT). I was a complete mess monday night. After all the fun we had over the weekend I just could not hold it together anymore. We had so much fun.

Starting on saturday, if you didn't know already, was my 25th birthday. Yep I am, as my mom put it in a card, over the hill and in need of a black birthday party. I know its really not that old. However I am in the older crowd when it comes to med students and their wives, that has never happened before. So we went and saw two movies, yep two, the new Indian Jones movie (fun fun) and the new Narnia movie (better than the first). My sister could not believe we paid for both when the theaters where right next to each other. Yes I was a movie hopper in the good ole' days. We enjoyed that and then headed off to Red Robin for dinner, it was soooo good. Then we headed home to get ready to go out again and 10:30 at night. I had convinced Travis to take me clubbing!!! It was so much fun, definitely not a mormon club, it was so different. We enjoyed people watching and listening to fun music. Travis is not an night owl, poor man look who he married, I on the other hand get my second wind about 10:30 or 11 pm. So when he was ready to go at 11:30 I was ready to party for another couple hours. We left around 12 or so. It was totally awesome!!

Then monday I took Travis out for brunch, he LOVES breakfast food, kinda as a sorry I kept you up all night, and then we headed off to the zoo. We tagged along with our favorite friends the Parkinson's and their two beautiful children. Don't worry I will get pictures up soon. We had so much fun this weekend, so why do you ask did I fall apart monday night. Well because I just didn't want to take him to the airport the next morning. Thats right all you other med students he took the test Friday instead.

So Travis has been in Alabama for two days now. He says that there has been a lot of standing in line and yelling so far. Yesterday him and his roommate had their door kicked in at 4:30ish AM and had 5 minutes to be dressed and shaved. He also said he had exactly 60 seconds for shaving and 60 seconds for brushing his teeth, they stood their and timed them. He was required to wake up that early again today after going to bed around 12 last night. Poor boy, he doesn't like getting less than 6 hours of sleep.

As for me I was a mess after I dropped him off. So much so that I got lost in downtown DSM. It took me forever to get my bearings again. I finally got to work and went to a couple parties. I avoided going home till around 10 so I could go straight to bed. And yesterday was horrible I couldn't find enough things to keep me busy. I haven't been alone in a house for a long period of time (longer than a week) in about 5 years. So this is a little traumatizing. Travis will be coming home on the 28th of June, so it is going to one long month. So with that said if anyone needs company let me know or call me and I will be there. Well that is all for my ranting today, more to come...trust me.

Haircut

So, along with my many other firsts, here's another. I gave myself a haircut - that's not a first, but the type of haircut is. So, here is the before pic, and the after pics, and a pic of Kamala and Elyssa Parkinson trying out a BabyBjorne. (I did shave it off after a day along with the beard...)

Travis learns to cook ...

So, I saw a random recipe on wikihow.com for a chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake, and since we had everything, i decided to attempt my first ever cheescake! And here's the finished project. A couple of days later, Kamala taught me how to make lasagna, which was also a first for me, and turned out surprisingly well (at least to me).

cinco de maio (a little late)

We felt like doing something for cinco de maio, so Kamala made an awesome dinner of chicken enchiladas, black refried beans, guacamole, and salsa. And we ate it on the floor on Kamala's Mexican blanket. Thanks for the holiday Mexico! TS

This has narrowed down my voting decision!!

How are we expected to give a man our vote for President of the United States of America when he doesn’t have the respect to put his right hand over his heart during our National Anthem?

I'm sorry I was taught that you put your hand over your heart for the Pledge and for the Anthem no matter what. And all he had to say about is that his grandfather taught him not to. What kind of excuse is that? There are way to many things that bother me about Senator Obama.

What is your impression?

Needs....

After reading this blog in Linsy's site Travis thought it would be really funny to share what we found under our names. So here goes,

1. Travis Needs to Get a Customized Wii, (You have no idea how funny that is)
2.Travis Needs help! (That is true for certain days)
3.Travis needs a new line. (I am not sure how true that is cause he never used any on me)
4.Travis needs more practice with his spelling. (This is absolutely not true he is my walking dictionary)
5.Travis needs to stop feeling sorry for himself and thinking he's unlucky. (As far as I know he never feels this way)
6.Travis needs to beat the crap out of these guys. (What guys are we talking about?)
7.Travis needs a sanity check. (Once again this could be true)
8.Travis needs that encouragement. (I try everyday)
9.Travis needs to grow up. (If he did I don't think he would be as much fun)
10. Travis needs to spend less time playing with the pencil in his pants and more time with the pencils he uses to do his work. (Enough said)

Now the ones I (Travis) found about Kamala.
1.Kamala needs a man to bond with in order to define her personality. (she doesn't, but it makes me feel important)
2.Kamala needs urgent recovery. (That was a few months ago with the leg)
3.Kamala needs a new Publicist.  (apparently she's not getting enough publicity)
4.Kamala needs to get off her butt and do some work. (after the rest of these, I'm not sure what work we're talking about)
5.Kamala will need to take a firm stand on enforcing labor rights for exotic dancers. (important subject)
6.Kamala needs some lessons on listening comprehension. (what?  i don't understand)
7.Kamala needs an english description. (translated from her other descriptions)
8.Kamala and Killer Khan need to be trained for the craziest most brutal encounter of their lives, and its obvious to him that Skandor Akbar isn't giving due diligence to his tag team champions. (this has to be read by a monster truck announcer voice)
9.Kamala needs to be kept away from the men on board. (she is a man-eater)
10.Kamala needs sex workers. (to bring in the money!)

If you thought these were strange try your name under google i.e.. "Travis needs" and see what you find.

So we are officially obsessed!!!

It was a repeat of last weekend for our date this weekend. There were some differences. For instance, we went to CiCi's for lunch instead and it was free, whaahoo (story in itself)! Then we went and looked at cars, yes thats right again. The only difference is we went to see the Toyota Rav4 and the Jeep Compass. We still have not test drove the Rav4 but we did test drive the Compass again, and I have to say I LOVE IT!!! If I had the money or didn't care how much debt we get into I would have bought it today. That vehicle is phenomenal, it has so much room, so much power, and is so comfortable. Goodness gracious I think I am in love!! I just have nothing else to say, I am speechless it is so nice.

Okay enough with that. After we indulged ourselves with imagining owning a new car, we went to see Iron Man, and that ladies and gentlemen was a good movie. There was no swearing at all, only a tiny bit of skin in one scene and TONS of explosions!!! I even laughed out loud and that does not happen easily. So yes this is a woman highly recommending the absolute action movie. I can't wait to get it on DVD!!
