Our Christmas in Iowa
We spent the first week of break here in Des Moines and had a little Christmas in our apartment. My parents (Sloans) sent us a gift for Rocco from their cat, Louis. We made a bunch of pajama pants and matching pillow cases for Kamala's family; you can see the pink camo's I made for Kamala (I made myself Transformer PJ's!)
We got to decorate the apartment with lights and our tiny christmas tree that we bought our first christmas. Sadly enough this was its last year. It died christmas eve, oh well I guess that means new tree for Kamala next year.
The last two picture are from our traditional breakfast that we stole from Kamala's family (Andrews). They have pancakes with strawberries and whip cream. We made crepes this year which were totally yummy.
These pictures also show some of our presents from our stockings, (thats the only thing we open before breakfast). We had fun. We even had a christmas dinner with pork chops instead of turkey. Yummy yummy, Kamala is such a good cook!

So what happened inbetween posts?!?!
So, it's been a while since we posted, and we have a couple of cool pictures from the second week of vacation we spent in Northern California. We arrived New Year's Eve. Kamala's family saved all of their Christmas presents until we arrived, so New Year's Day we all celebrated Christmas (second time for us). Oh, and they saved a box of birthday presents for me from October, including transformers in the pic below.
We did a couple of other things for fun while there too. We went to Sacramento and saw Riverdance. Sorry, no pics allowed. But we also went to San Fransico. We got a couple nifty pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, but they weren't great because it was sunset.
It rained the whole day, but we didn't mind, as long as it wasn't frozen! We walked all over Fisherman's warf, looked at some old ships from WWII including a diesel submarine like on U-571.

And here's a pic looking back at the hills of San Fran from the Warf.
After wondering around the warfs and buying fresh clam chowder from the fish market we explored the Exploritorium. That was one of my favorite spots that day. There was tons of fun exhibits. We stayed there until they closed then headed off to see China Town. None of our pictures turned out from that part of town since the sun had set. China Town was fun. We even jumped out of the car to buy tee-shirts for $1.88. Cute shirts but scary part of town at a scary time of day. It was a fun trip to San Fransisco and a fun week in California. It even snowed the night before we left to come back. It had been so windy in town that it looked like a tornado went through Sacramento. It was a fun trip, now to plan the next one that will be during spring break for Kamala's yougest sister's baptism.Posted by Travis and Kamala Sloan at 7:15 PM 0 comments

So its my turn
Well it is the end of another year. I still can't believe it is christmas. I am going to be working a ton before and after christmas again. I am in a little bit of a shock with how fast it has snuck up on us. I saw the snow melt at the beginnning of May and it has now returned. I would have really liked to see grass and flowers longer before the cold came again. Now I am not complaining mind you, it still is not as cold as rexburg and I am very very grateful for that.
I am very excited for the end of the year, we get to go to my parents house in California. Travis hasn't to been there since 2005, I was there last October before moving further north in Alaska.
We are really excited to be home with family and see trees and real big mountains again. I love the Sierra's it really drives me nuts not to be close to home.
We have lots of plans for that one week we will be there. We need to take Travis to San Fransisco so that he can get the full Nor Cal exprerience. I am so excited and plan on taking pictures to share with everyone.
Now I know everyone is wondering if I will still be walking on a boot. Well yes sadly enough I will. I won't have another apointment until we are back here in Des Moines and then we'll see what they say then. As of right now I am to still take it easy, walking not PT until the 27th, then once we are home who knows. I will be getting more x rays at home to see what my dad and his fellow doctor have to say.
Well that is it for my little rambling and now its time for me to get ready for the rest of my day. For all of you that will start your break soon have a safe and very merry christmas and a happy new year. We love you all and will see or talk to you all soon.
